Zola Levitt
1938 - 2006
As some of you may know, Zola went to be with our Lord on April 19, 2006. Zola was diagnosed with cancer on February 10, and when diagnosed, it was in his left lung, his liver and brain according to his son, Mark Levitt. Zola passed quietly at his home in Dallas, Texas.
I met Zola when I was program director of CBN's television station in Dallas, Texas, KXTX-TV Channel 39. This station, owned and operated at that time by Pat Robertson's Christian Broadcasting Network, was where Zola started producing his first television programs. Then, my first trip to Israel was with Zola in 1979 and my life was never the same from that point on. Five years later, in 1984, I went to work for Zola, as general manager of his travel corporation and operations manager over his ministry. I will never forget the 6,000 - 3 x 5 cards, stored in little metal boxes, lining the walls of the office, where donations and book and tape orders were recorded by faithful, diligent volunteers. Through the next year, we computerized the office, created a database for all our faithful donors, and continued to operate wonderful, blessed tours to the Holy Land. Zola continued to produce spiritually enlightening and educational television programs, many filmed on location in Israel by Ken Berg of Berg Productions, and to write his books. However, during that time the Lord also began giving him wonderful works of music to write and record. He will be so very missed by those of us who appreciated his special talents in writing and speaking, composing his wonderful music, always pointing us toward the Messiah, Yeshua and Israel, and his wonderful television programs.
Zola's unique ending to every television program of "Zola Levitt Presents" and plea to all his viewers was: "Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem." This was his heart's cry and prayer. This is what, to me, Zola was all about. He loved Israel and stood strong and brave for Peace in the Land. He of course also loved his family dearly and was devoted to his ministry, his desire being for the ministry to continue after he was gone.
"What a soldier's testimonial – to stay at his post until called away by Yeshua! Happy is the man whose work is his play," Mark Levitt wrote.
Zola's family has asked that instead of flowers or cards, that donations be made to the ministry to help continue the work of Zola Levitt Ministries. You may access their website at www.levitt.com. - and Sha'alu Shalom Yerushalayim: "Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem."
